Chinese Hero ---- Yuan Longping

Today, I will introduce a great Chinese hero to you. His name is Yuan Longping--The Father of Hybrid Rice.

“For the welfare of the people all over the world is one of my lifelong wishes. ” Yuan Longping said so.

Yuan Longping was born in Beijing in 1930. When he was young, he moved with his family and went to school in many places, including Hunan, Chongqing, Wuhan and Nanjing.   Yuan Longping is a Chinese agronomist, known for developing the first hybrid rice varieties in 1970s.

With this great invention, China can feed nearly one-fifth of the world’s population with less than nine percent of world’s total land.

Also, Hybrid rice has been grown in dozens of countries in Africa, America, and Asia. 

For his contributions, Yuan Longping is always called the "Father of Hybrid Rice" by the Chinese. 

He nerver stopped working until he was 90s.In honour of Yuan Longping , I am so proud of being Chinese, I will cherish every grain in my life, and study for my country and the people harder and harder .
